We are currently recruiting for an exciting opportunity to join the University of Suffolk as a Research Fellow in the Institute of Health and Wellbeing. Key research themes of the Institute include physical activity and sport, whole system approaches to wellbeing, long term health conditions, and perinatal wellbeing. This position offers the successful applicant the chance to be at the forefront of local, national and international research.

The Institute of Health and Wellbeing will be a centre of excellence bringing together local, regional, National and International partners (including the NHS and other providers of health care, business, education, government and charities) to identify, research, find solutions and translate this back into practice to improve health and wellbeing regionally and creating impact globally. The post holder will play a key role in building relationships to raise the research profile of the University of Suffolk specifically in Health and Wellbeing.

The Research Fellow post will be based at the Waterfront Campus at the University of Suffolk, Ipswich. The post holder will work under the supervision of the Director, Professor Valerie Gladwell. The Research Fellow will develop research objectives, undertake independent and collaborative research projects and evaluate outcomes. They will assist in managing research projects and help to implement the research strategy within the Institute and plan, coordinate and implement research programmes in accordance with University strategy, policy and procedures and funder requirements.

The post holder will possess a PhD or extensive nationally recognised professional expertise in Health and Wellbeing, and have experience of leading on research publications, projects and funding bids. They should have the flexibility to work within diverse teams, while demonstrating self-motivation and time management skills and the ability to work, often to tight deadlines, with limited supervision. The post holder will be expected to have a strong research background including experience in quantitative and qualitative research methodologies, experience of working on projects with sensitivity and creative problem solving, and extensive understanding of safeguarding, ethics and quality assurance in research.
