Do you want to be part of a multidisciplinary project bringing astrophysics data analysis techniques to air pollution studies?

Air pollution is amongst the worst environment health risks and a recognised global challenge facing humanity. We are looking for a unique and talented individual to lead the analysis of air pollution studies under the `Clear Skies' project, a collaboration between the Universities of Southampton and York, under the auspices of the STFC Air Quality Network (https: // www. saqn.org/). Different from previous studies, we will apply frontline time-series analysis techniques (e.g. those developed and common in astrophysics) to air pollution monitoring data. Clear Skies hopes to identify new underlying drivers and correlations in high time resolution air pollution monitoring datasets.

Do you have experience with either modern astrophysics (preferably time- domain analysis), experience with statistical data analysis or relevant computing languages? We are looking for a talented, creative, and independently motivated individual to join our team at Southampton. This position is a unique opportunity with creative freedom and responsibility, on the front lines of knowledge exchange and interdisciplinary science, with the potential to impact policy that affects peoples' lives and health. The successful candidate will receive support and guidance regarding air pollution data, as well as on time-domain data analysis, from members of the collaboration.

To lead this project, you will have a PhD (preferred), Masters or equivalent professional qualifications and experience in either astrophysics, or air pollution studies, or a field with related data analysis and programming experience.

This is a full fixed-term position of 8 months due to funding restrictions supported by STFC-IAA.
