Our highly skilled and creative workforce is comprised of individuals drawn from a broad cross section of the globe, who reflect a variety of backgrounds, talents, perspectives and experiences that help to build our global learning community.

The Faculty of Media and Communication at Bournemouth University is one of the largest of its kind in the world and has a global reputation for combining research and teaching practice. The NCCA is seeking to recruit a Research Fellow who will work with specialists at Bournemouth University on the project, Towards Zero Carbon Production: A system dynamics model to inform and monitor energy policy and planning scenarios in Virtual Production, to provide a framework for interrogating the quantitative and qualitative data of sustainable practices and policy in Virtual Production. Areas that will be investigated are aligned with the UN Sustainability goals and include energy consumption of both Virtual Production equipment; travel which constitutes 16% of film CO2 emissions in film; the reuse of physical and virtual assets between productions; and productivity enhancements resulting from increased pages shot per day, reduction in reshoot costs and reduced post-production costs compared with alternative approaches.

The post-holder should have academic or industrial experience of system dynamics modelling, and ideally practical experience of using system dynamics modelling software and of applying system modelling in sustainable operating practices.

This position is available on a fixed-term basis for 5-months from August 2022.
