About the role:
We have an exciting opportunity available in our Department of Mechanical
Engineering for an emerging academic to grow their profile in biomechanical
engineering, conducting research with an emphasis on performing experiments as
well as developing and using computational models of the musculoskeletal
system to investigate the biomechanics of human and equine locomotion.
The successful candidate will perform relevant experiments and related
analysis, write high quality journal publications, prepare and deliver
engaging presentations as well liaise with collaborating partners.
You will also have the opportunity to contribute to teaching in the Department
in the area of biomechanics through lecturing, tutoring, marking and lab
Naturally you will be capable of demonstrating the following:
Demonstrated knowledge, skills and experience in general biomechanics of
the human musculoskeletal system.
Experience in performing cadaver and/or in vivo experiments related to
human and animal motion biomechanics.
Knowledge and experience in musculoskeletal modelling, simulation and
Extensive experience in using Matlab, C++, and related software.
Ability to collect and process gait data.
Additionally, it would be desirable (but not necessary) if you also had
experience in relation to any of the following:
Research experience related to numerical and computational techniques
applied to advanced modelling and simulation
Knowledge and experience in finite-element modelling and analysis,
particularly in relation to human and animal movement.
