Your new role

We are seeking a highly motivated Research Fellow to join our team for our Resources Technology and Critical Minerals Trailblazer project. This project will focus on the rapid development of advanced geo-sensing technologies including conducting experiments and establishing the necessary infrastructure. The successful candidate will work on integration of seismic and electromagnetic technologies to generate data to feed advanced inversion and machine learning methods for subsurface reconstruction.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement geophysical/geo-sensing technologies for critical mineral discovery.
  • Conduct field experiments to test and refine seismic and electromagnetic technologies and a range of conditions.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to integrate data and improve discovery success and mining efficiency.
  • Utilize modern inversion and machine learning techniques for subsurface reconstruction.
  • Contribute to capacity building in both human resources and infrastructure.
  • As this is a fixed-term contract, you will require current work rights in Australia that match the tenure of the role. Only in limited situations will visa sponsorship be considered.

    Selection Criteria:

  • A doctoral qualification in Geophysics, Earth Sciences, Engineering or Physics.
  • Evidence of a record of research outputs/creative works in high quality refereed journals/outlets
  • Deep understanding of principles of seismic and electromagnetic technologies.
  • Proficiency in data analysis and machine learning methods.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work in a team environment.
  • Excellent communication and project management skills.
  • Strong desire to develop and test new technologies within industrial settings or in remote locations.
