  • About the Role

    The position will contribute to grant-funded research under the broad direction of the Associate Research Professor. The Research Fellow: Digital Health will support the QUM Medicines and Therapeutic Education Service (QUM MATES) Project. The position will take responsibility for developing and evaluating innovative digital health methods to improve clinical decision making, with a particular focus on therapy decision and monitoring.

    Working in close collaboration with a team of experts, developers and clinicians, the position will be responsible for study development, data analysis and communication of results in both written and verbal formats. The position will also supervise research students.

    Funded under the Quality Use of Diagnostics, Therapeutic and Pathology Program Health Professional Education Grant the QUM MATES project will provide up to date health and medicines information specifically tailored for general practitioners. The activities of the project will be adapted from the successful Veterans' MATES program and are underpinned by the guiding principles of Australia's National Strategy for Quality Use of Medicines.

    Core Responsibilities

  • Identify opportunities for digital health interventions and contribute to research proposal and analysis plans
  • Research and implement methods appropriate for critical evaluation of the concepts, tools and methods of the project
  • Lead the development of proof-of-concept applications, write and execute study protocols to evaluate functionalities
  • Engage with collaborative partners to coordinate data analytic plans across data sets
  • Prepare high quality manuscripts of project findings and manage the process of external reviews and submission for publication
  • Essential Skills and Experience

  • A PhD qualification in Health Informatics, Health Services or Population Health, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics or a related field
  • Experience in the implementation and evaluation of research projects in healthcare settings
  • Understanding of Software Development Lifecycle, including requirements analysis, design, implementation, testing, and deployment
  • Proficiency in developing small-scale prototypes or proof-of-concept applications to demonstrate the feasibility and functionality of digital health solutions
  • Strong data analysis skills, including the ability to collect, process, and analyse health data. Demonstrated attention to detail in the maintenance of data
