Primary Purpose of the Organizational Unit:
The Department of Biological and Forensic Sciences (DOBFS) offers Bachelor of Science degrees in Biology and Forensic Sciences. The department provides a high-quality and excellent undergraduate instruction in Biology and a solid foundation for upper division work and gives students opportunity to broaden her/his knowledge before deciding on a specific major or profession.
Under the administration of DOBFS, the Plant-Insect Interaction Research Laboratory (Project) has been established as a platform to conduct student- centered research to investigate the impact of environmental stress on plant- insect interaction. The research has been funded by FSU, USDA, and NSF over the past 16 years and served as a platform to for student training, faculty enhancement, and national and international collaboration. The mission of the Laboratory is to make meaningful scientific discoveries, engage FSU students in research and scientific communication, promote student success, and facilitate social mobility through research and education one student a time.

Primary Purpose of the Position:
The Research Associate will conduct research and work with undergraduate students in the lab, which will make meaningful scientific discoveries, promote student success, and enhance the research capacity of FSU. "Due to the nature of working with plants and insects, the Research Associate is expected to work on evenings and/or weekends occasionally”
Minimum Education And Experience Requirements:
Ph.D. (preferred) or MS degree in Biology, Molecular Biology, Bioinformatics, Plant Science, Entomology, or other related disciplines at the time of employment. Experiences in Plant-parasite Interaction, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Bioinformatics, Biostatistics, and the ability of implementing innovative approaches are highly desirable. The candidate should possess a good level of communication skills and is willing and able to work with undergraduate students at Fayetteville State University.
