The Division of Research & Innovation at the University of North Texas Health
Science Center is seeking to hire a Research Associate for its Preclinical
Imaging Core Laboratory.
Establishing a Preclinical Imaging Core is a part of HSC strategic roadmap to
build innovative and state-of-the-art research enterprise. This initiative is
a part of the continuing strategic effort to bring novel scientific methods
and cutting-edge instrumentation to support innovate basic and translational
research in HSC. This Research Associate position will be responsible for
further developing, implementing, and managing this initiative.
Research Associate will be responsible for managing the daily operations of
new established state-of-the-art Preclinical Imaging Core. This requires
regular maintenance of advance scientific instrumentation while streamlining
procedures to assist researchers with newly available techniques in HSC. The
individual is expected to utilize their expertise to ensure that studies are
performed to the required scientific, regulatory and client standards in
accordance with HSC protocol while adhering to state and federal guidelines.
The employee will be expected to liaise with team members from other core
labs, as well as DLAM and IACUC staff to provide quality service while working
closely with students, faculty, and external clients.
Bachelor's degree and three (3) years of related experience; or equivalent
combination of education and experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships.
Knowledge of safety and security precautions appropriate to work
Excellent written communication and interpersonal skills.
Strong time management and problem solving skills.
A bachelor's degree is required. 1-3 years of previous experience working with
small animals along with preclinical imaging is preferred. Candidates with
strong in vivo imaging experience (PET/SPECT or MRI) but willing to learn
animal handling techniques will also be considered.
The successful candidate will have strong technical skills and a desire to
learn with an understanding about translational research processes. The
employee will be a clear communicator by oral and written means and must be
comfortable interacting with a wide range of professional colleagues. They
will have rigorous approach to experimental design, implementation, and data
analysis. They will have ability to proactively work independently and/or in a
team environment while managing multiple projects simultaneously with
deadlines. They will have positive and polite assertiveness to maintain safety
and security precautions. They will be comfortable developing new workflow and
educating others about those processes.
