Essential Functions (Job Duties)
Research positions in the field of neuroscience and visual sciences are
immediately available. Our laboratory uses the mouse retina as a model system
to investigate the neural network and its physiological significance. We are
looking to hire lab personnel who will conduct calcium imaging, patch clamp
recordings, immunohistochemistry, and molecular biological studies. Motivated

Research Associate/Assistant/Post Doc essential functions may include:
Perform laboratory based scientific techniques or clinical/population science
(human subjects) research. Design and perform experiments, recruit
participants for studies by developing surveys and interviewing candidates.
Collect and log laboratory results, clinical outcomes and/or survey data.
Evaluate and perform data analysis using graphs, charts or tables to highlight
the key points of the research results collected in accordance with the
research protocols as stipulated.
Assist principal investigator with writing methods and summarizing/organizing
data to be used in preparing and presenting presentations for professional,
scientific and academic conferences and submittal to academic and scholarly
Maintain the laboratory work areas including routine maintenance on laboratory
equipment as required. Order and organize required research supplies and
records. Maintain cleanliness and organization of work station.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Conduct calcium imaging and patch clamp recordings from neurons in the mouse
Perform intraocular virus injection to mouse eyes.
Conduct immunohistochemical study using confocal microscopy.
Assisting lab maintenance, such as making experimental solutions, maintenance
of chemicals, and set-up with equipment.
Research Assistant: Bachelors degree required, in a related field of study
Research Associate: Bachelors degree required, in a related field of study
preferred. Minimum of 2 years job related experience.
Post Doc: Doctorate degree required with 3-4 years job related experience. Job
related experience can include doctorate training. Must have distinguished
themselves in research. Prior recipient of funding for research based on
individual achievements. Ability to secure grants and funding for research.
All: Requires advanced knowledge, predominantly intellectual in character, in
a field of science or learning acquired by a prolonged course of specialized
Ability to work independently, analyze, summarize and interpret research
findings and data in reports and spreadsheets and communicate results.
Knowledge of scientific integrity principles. Excellent time management and
organization skills. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and
demonstrated ability to work with others in a collaborative environment.
Microsoft office software skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to work both in a team environment and independently.
Experiences in neuroscience or vision research.
Experience with animal research.
Research experience in the field of Vision and neuroscience is preferred but
Typical work environment may include a laboratory and/ or office environment.
May require working non-standard business hours including evenings and
weekends. May be required to travel to scientific conferences.
