Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit

Position Summary

The successful candidate will work in the laboratory of Dr. Gauri Rao and will focus on projects focused on characterizing the pharmacokinetics/pharmacodynamics (PK/PD) of antibiotics and adjuvant therapy. This position will involve designing and conducting in vitro experiments to optimize the pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamic activity against highly resistant pathogens, characterizing resistance mechanisms and developing knockout bacterial strains to evaluate emergence of resistance. The candidate will also design, plan and conduct in vivo experiments focused on characterizing the host pathogen interactions for designing and optimizing dosing regimens for antibiotic and adjuvant therapy combination administered via different routes.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

Relevant post-Baccalaureate degree required; for candidates demonstrating comparable independent research productivity, will accept a relevant undergraduate degree and 3 or more years of relevant experience in substitution. A preferred candidate will have a doctorate in Molecular Biology, Biomedical Engineering, or a related field.

Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience

1-3 years of experience working on PK/PD analysis, in vitro, cell culture, and in vivo experiments focused on antimicrobial resistance. The successful candidate must have excellent communication skills and be able to work independently. The candidate must be able to have demonstrated experience in writing and executing grants.
