Duties and Responsibilities

The laboratory of Gail Hecht, MD is seeking a Post-doctoral fellow for work in studying host-pathogen interactions with an emphasis on enteropathogenic E. coli (EPEC) and the clinical relevance of atypical EPEC in causing disease. The research will also entail studies regarding the structural biology of intestinal epithelial cells with specific emphasis on actin and its binding partners. The applicant must have a Post-doctoral degree in science in a topic related to cell biology and microbiology or a similar field. The applicant must have experience with techniques related to cell culture, western blot, PCR, confocal microscopy, tissue immunohistochemistry for light and electron microscopy, and animal handling. Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and statistical analysis is a must as well as familiarity with image processing programs such as ImageJ or Adobe Photoshop. It is preferred that the candidate have experience preparing and executing both oral and poster presentations for national conferences as well as experience in manuscript preparation and submission.

Qualifications Physical Demands Working Conditions Minimum Education and/or Work Experience

A PhD in a biological sciences area is required.
