Research Associate (Part Time, Fixed Term)
The Faculty of Education at the University of Cambridge wishes to appoint a
part-time Research Associate (0.5 FTE) to work on a new research project in
the Centre for Research on Play in Education, Development and Learning
(PEDAL). The project is a large-scale, long-term follow-up study of families
with children aged 6-8 years. The follow-up study extends upon families'
earlier participation in the Healthy Start, Happy Start study, a randomised
controlled trial of a video-feedback parenting intervention delivered to
caregivers when their children were 1-3 years old. The project is led by Prof.
Paul Ramchandani and Dr. Christine O'Farrelly (PEDAL).
The post-holder will have a leading role in planning and co-ordinating the
collection of data related to parenting, parent-child interaction, and
children's behaviour and development. The post-holder will undertake
supervision of research assistants during the conduct of the study. They will
also contribute to the preparation and dissemination of key findings via
Applicants should have a PhD in developmental psychology or closely-related
field (including research methods), or be close to completion of a PhD, or
have research experience commensurate to a doctoral degree. They will have
experience of complex research projects in early years family or school
settings, ideally including randomised controlled trial methodology in this
field. The postholder will be highly organised and have excellent written and
oral communication skills.

Fixed-term: The starting date for the post is ideally November 2021 or soon
after. The appointment is funded directly by the project and funds are
available until 30 June 2023.
