  • About the Role

    This position provides an exciting opportunity to contribute to a program of research aimed at developing new wearable technologies based on Field Effect Transistor sensors. You will join a dynamic and cross-disciplinary research team led by Professor Benjamin Thierry at the Future Industries Institute and work in close collaboration with experts in microelectronic and nanofabrication.

    To be successful in this role, you will have demonstrated experience in the development of solid-state sensors such as Field Effect Transistors or in the integration of sensing technologies within health wearable devices. You will have an entrepreneurship mindset and aspire to translate your research towards positively impacting healthcare.

    Core Responsibilities

  • Undertake research under limited supervision to achieve project grant outcomes; i.e. develop a PoC and wearable biodiagnostic technologies
  • Design and perform a range of experiments including appropriate controls to achieve planned research outcomes
  • Prepare or contribute to the preparation of refereed journal publications, conference and seminar papers arising from the research
  • Attend and actively participate in meetings associated with relevant research projects
  • Essential Skills and Experience

  • PhD qualification in a relevant discipline; i.e. Biomedical Engineering or Electrical Engineering
  • Experience in the development of sensing and/or medical/health wearable technologies
  • Experience in semiconductors and nanofabrication
  • Evidence of high-quality research output commensurate with the length of research career, which is published and presented in appropriate forums
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills demonstrated through written work such as research reports, research publications and educational materials, and through effective liaison with external partners, colleagues and students
