Research Associate in Theoretical Many-Body Physics and Quantum Chaos

We are now looking for a Research Associate in Theoretical Many-Body Physics and Quantum Chaos.

The aim of the role is to develop theoretical descriptions of quantum complexity in many-body systems with a particular focus on quantum chaos, decoherence and entanglement measures. Example physical platforms of interest include the central spin model, and you will closely interface with an existing theory effort on central spin models within the group as well as with experimentalists working on central spin systems such as quantum dots and colour centers in diamond.

You will hold a PhD in Theoretical Physics with a proven track record in Many- Body Quantum Systems and Quantum Chaos. Preference will be given to candidates with experience in Many-Body Quantum Theory and Complexity as demonstrated by publications in major journals. A proven ability to pursue scientific investigation from the conception stage through to publication is essential. You will also have excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to mentor students, to write reports, to present results and to contribute to academic papers.

You will be located at the Department of Physics Cavendish Laboratory JJ Thomson Avenue Cambridge CB3 0HE, UK.

Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available for 12 months in the first instance.

Once an offer of employment has been accepted, the successful candidate will be required to undergo a health assessment.
