This exciting post is available as part of the SUPPORTED project, funded by the National Institute for Health and Care Research. The project is a collaboration between the University of Hull, King's College London, the University of Sheffield, and Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust. The SUPPORTED study aims to explore the best ways to support and train home care workers to deliver good end of life care. Homecare workers, alongside other health and social care staff, play a vital role in providing quality care for people wishing to stay at home at end of life. This study will explore the experience of homecare workers, their clients, homecare managers and other health and social care staff involved, to develop appropriate end of life skills and support for homecare workers. We will use the knowledge gained to inform the content of a training resource for homecare workers.

The Band 6 Research Associate will work with our research team across three sites to undertake interviews with homecare workers, service users and their families, homecare managers, and other health professionals, and analyse, write up and disseminate research findings.

The post- holder will be based within the Social and Psychological Research in Long-term Conditions (SPARC) research group (https: // www. with-us/research/groups/social-and-psychological-research-in-long-term- conditions-sparc ) and work closely with the Wolfson Palliative Care Research Centre (https: // www. ).

The post-holder will work in a thriving research environment, with a lively, innovative, and enthusiastic group, committed to undertaking the highest quality research and building research capacity for the future.

The post provides an opportunity to undertake research using a range of methods as part of a large research project in palliative and social care. The post holder will (1) contribute to obtaining ethical and research governance approval (2) undertake recruitment of participants (3) undertake fieldwork including interviews and documentary analysis (4) contribute to preparation of reports and draft publications. participate in co-production and dissemination events.

The post-holder will have, or be working towards, a PhD in a relevant discipline, have experience of qualitative research data collection and analysis as well as interpreting and presenting results, experience of research in health and social care, experience of drafting research reports, participating in scientific conferences and contributing to publications.

Travel for workshops and data collection may be required.
