Research Associate (Fixed Term)
We are seeking to appoint a Research Associate to join a team led by Professor
Ravi Gupta in the Department of Medicine, University of Cambridge, United
Kingdom. The work will be done in the brand-new building of the Cambridge
Institute of Therapeutic Immunology and Infectious Disease (CITIID), the
building provides a stimulating environment that promotes collaboration and
interdisciplinary research, with state-of-the-art-facilities, located on the
Cambridge Biomedical Campus.
This position is aimed at an experienced molecular biologist to undertake
research on HIV-1 integration and cellular/viral mechanisms related to this
process, including drug inhibition and drug resistance.
The successful candidate will have excellent laboratory skills and strong
publication record. They will also have knowledge of cell culture (cell lines
and primary cells) and molecular biology of HIV and SARS-CoV-2. Candidates
should have (or be about to receive) a PhD in a relevant discipline.
Candidates in the process of submitting their PhD thesis or awaiting degree
conferral will be considered. In this case, appointment would be at the level
of Research Assistant, Grade 5 (£27,116 - £31,406). On receipt of award, the
appointee would move to Grade 7, Research Associate (£33,309 - £40,927).
Skills with purification of proteins and in vitro biochemical reactions is
desirable. Bioinformatic analysis skills with knowledge of the use of a range
of software tools that relate to viral and human genomics would be desirable.
Use of software to build phylogenetic trees is also desirable.
