£27924 to £40927 per annum, (pro rata if applicable) depending on skills and experience (minimum £31406 with relevant PhD). Salary progression beyond this scale is subject to performance
The Institute for Advanced Manufacturing's world-leading research programme
covers the latest developments in field, including smart manufacturing
systems, high-value large-scale robotic assembly, and precision manufacturing.
These developments are investigated as fundamental research projects, and then
developed further into industrially-ready developments and implementation.
As part of this programme, we require a Research Associate/Fellow to work at
the forefront of research and science to develop and implement innovative low-
cost sensing and data analytics/machine learning solutions for industrial
applications. The successful candidate will primarily contribute to the
EPSRC/IAA funded Factory in a Box project.
Candidates must hold, or be about to obtain, a PhD in computer science, data
science, industrial engineering or a related engineering or computing
discipline with a specialisation in data. In addition, you will have
experience working with low-cost sensors such as accelerometers, current
sensors, cameras and a sound knowledge of data management and experience in
formulating and implementing data analysis and analytics methods. Proficiency
in Python is essential, with desirable experience on python's libraries for
serial communication, data visualisation and REST API frameworks such as
FLASK. Excellent communication skills are also required, together with the
ability to work both in a team and independently are essential. Some travel
within the UK to project partners' sites may be required.
This post is available immediately and offered on fixed term contract until 31
