Job Description Summary:
The George Washington Univerity Department of Global Health is seeking a
Research Associate, Data Management for Dr. Emily Smith's research group. The
research group focuses on how nutrition and infection shape healthy birth,
growth, and development across the lifecycle. This position will carry out
research activities by using quantitative methods to collect, analyze, and
report data activities for an international study, under general guidance of
the Principal Investigator. The study, funded by the Bill & Melinda Gates
foundation, aims to capture robust harmonized data on maternal and newborn
health outcomes throughout pregnancy and postpartum.
This position will work directly with partners from multiple study sites to
compile results and prepare technical reports. The individual in this role
must be familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the
field of epidemiology and global health. Working under the general guidance of
a program manager, this position will be supervised day-to-day by the
Principal Investigator (Dr. Emily Smith).
Prepare standard operating procedures and data collection forms.
Write statistical analysis codes for site-specific data quality assessment
Manage dashboard to track study progress and data quality.
Run data analyses for quarterly reports to the funding agency.
Support capacity building activities with data managers at implementing
Conduct statistical analysis under general guidance from the Principal
Conduct data quality checks and send data quality reports to site data
Performs other related duties as assigned. The omission of specific duties
does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically
related to the position.
Qualified candidates will hold a master's degree and 1 year of experience in a
related discipline. Degree must be conferred by the start date of the
Additional Required Licenses/Certifications/Posting Specific Minimum
Master's degree in epidemiology, biostatistics, or related field.
Advanced proficiency in data analysis using Stata and R.
Excellent project coordination and organizational skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Experience living or working outside the US and/or working with
Commitment to working in multidisciplinary teams, developing and
maintaining positive relationships with co-workers and international
