The LSU School of Medicine Department in Baton Rouge, Louisiana is seeking candidates for a Research Associate 1, 2, or 3.
Level of Research Associate 1, 2, or 3 will be determined based on the candidate's years of experience.
As a member of a growing research group, incumbent will be provided a balanced mix of autonomy and oversight. The program of research focuses primarily within the fields of Pulmonary Disease and Critical Care Medicine, with a central theme of infectious diseases (viral, fungal and bacterial pathogenesis) as well as the complications of infections (sepsis, post- sepsis syndromes, etc) and the consequences of the lung's exposure to environmental toxins. Though most of the work is clinical with subject / patient interactions and data extraction from the electronic health record, basic laboratory work is necessary, including specimen processing and handling. The ability to communicate effectively with a diverse group of patients and collaborators is necessary.
Incumbent is often responsible for maintaining the efficient execution of clinical studies and maintaining appropriate records as required by the individual protocol. The incumbent will assist the Principal Investigator and/or Research Director with summarization, analysis and organization of data for publication; may assist with preparation of grant application; assists and / or teaches undergraduate students, graduate students, medical students, residents and other learners rotating through the research program; often responsible for supervision and training of junior research personnel. Independent work on complex tasks is necessary.
