Department of Experimental Psychology, Radcliffe Observatory Quarter

Applications are invited for a Research Assistant position to assist a Wellcome Trust-funded project to investigate the brain mechanisms of flexible behaviour. The project is part of a collaboration between the labs of Thomas Akam, Mark Walton and Tim Behrens.

The role will be to work on developing automated behavioural assays for mice, and will involve a combination of hardware and software development and mouse behavioural experiments.

The post is full-time, fixed term for 1 year.

The successful candidate will be qualified to MSc or equivalent degree level in a relevant discipline (e.g. Neuroscience), and hold a Personal Licence to conduct animal-based scientific work. With experience of programming/software development, preferably in Python and hardware development, including the use of CAD software and digital fabrication methods for prototyping and electronics. Experience of data analysis and excellent communication, organisational and time management skills and the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team are also required.
