Research Centre in Postdigital Cultures (PDC)

Coventry University's Institute of Creative Cultures is seeking to appoint a Research Assistant within the Centre for Postdigital Cultures (CPC). The CPC was established in 2017 and sits within the Institute of Creative Cultures. Led by Professor Gary Hall the CPC brings together media theorists, practitioners, activists and artists to explore how developments in postdigital media can help 21st century societies and their cultural institutions respond to the challenges they face in relation to the digital at a local, national and planetary level.
As befits a centre concerned with networked postdigital cultures, the CPC has a somewhat fluid, de-centered organisational structure. It consists of five quasi-autonomous collaboratories: • AI and Algorithmic Cultures • ArtSpaceCity • Ludic Design • Postdigital Intimacies • Post-Publishing The role of Research Assistant typically involves assisting with all aspects of the Research Centre including: • Contributing to research and consultancy activity under the line management, supervision and guidance of senior managers in the CPC • Undertaking their own small projects, assisting with international research and submission of funding bids, with support from line manager • Supporting the communication of outputs of research activity: e.g. producing statistical and other analyses, reports, publications • Research dissemination activities such as: preparing and contributing to presentations, videos, workshops, seminars and local/national peer-reviewed conferences and press • Preparing papers for steering groups and other bodies • Assisting with dissemination and press activities, managing and updating social media accounts (e.g. Twitter, YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, Telegram) by generating relevant posts and uploading content. Promoting events using academic mailing lists and supporting the update of websites connected to the centre • Aiding with papers and posters for peer reviewed submission • Produce summary reports to stakeholders and funders (with guidance)
