An opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated, enthusiastic Science Graduate, Clinical Research Practitioner or Clinical Research Nurse to join a team of internationally recognised researchers within the Division of Cardiovascular Medicine (CVM) and the Cardiovascular Theme of the Oxford NIHR Biomedical Research Centre. Your primary role will be screening cardiac and vascular surgical lists for eligible patients, obtaining informed consent, and collecting and preparing human tissue and blood samples from patients undergoing elective cardiac or vascular surgery. Additionally, you will undertake safe, good quality, participant focused research in accordance with Good Clinical Practice (GCP) guidelines and the Research Governance Framework for Health and Care.
You will have a proactive “can do” attitude, good organisation skills, excellent communication and interpersonal skills as well as the ability to keep meticulous records and to work flexible hours to suit the elective surgical lists. Specific and research training will be available. Administrative responsibilities will include inputting study data into an electronic database, comply with the regulatory framework of the Human Tissue Act (HTA), compile annual reports, and attend team meetings.
You will be required to hold a degree in a relevant subject e.g Biological Sciences and have the Ability to work autonomously and exercise own initiative when dealing with common issues within own area of work. Previous experience of working on clinical research studies would be desirable.
This is a full-time appointment on a fixed term contract for 2.5 years in the first instance and renewable for a further 2.5 years, pending the result of the NIHR mid-term review. This post is funded by NIHR Oxford Biomedical Research Centre (BRC) and you will be based at the John Radcliffe Hospital, Oxford, OX3 9DU.
