Research Assistant

We are seeking to appoint a Research Assistant to work as part of an exciting research collaboration at the interface between academia and industry that has been established to advance the development of treatments for neurodegenerative diseases.
The post holder will provide specialist technical support and conduct original research as part of collaborative scientific projects that are designed to elucidate the function/dysfunction of vulnerable neurons in mouse models of neurodegenerative disorders, including experimental Parkinson's disease. The post holder will contribute to scientific research by assisting with experiments that entail the use of neuroanatomical and other approaches to investigate the mouse brain, as well as by assisting in the daily organisation and running of the laboratory spaces used by the host Group.
In addition to having a B.Sc. or equivalent qualification, candidates should have a track record in laboratory technician work and/or research experience in the field of neuroscience. Candidates are also expected to be team players, able to work as part of a group and independently, and to have excellent communication and organisational skills.
The post holder will work in the Group led by Professor Peter Magill, and will be based at the MRC Brain Network Dynamics Unit.

The post is full-time, fixed-term for 12 months in the first instance, and is available from 8th September 2022
