About This Opportunity
The Research Assistant manages will work as part of a research team on
projects related to pineapple tissue culture and molecular analysis. The
position will undertake a range of laboratory experiments including plant
tissue culture and transformation, making tissue culture media and
subculturing callus tissues, extracting genomic DNA and performing PCR. You
will also undertake general duties around the lab and glasshouses.
This position is located at our picturesque St Lucia campus, renowned as one
of Australia's most attractive university campuses, and located just 7km from
Brisbane's city centre. Bounded by the Brisbane River on three sides, and with
outstanding public transport connections, our 114-hectare site provides a

Our Ideal Candidate
Applicants should possess a Bachelor degree in Biology or a related discipline
area with relevant experience in tissue culture and/or transformation and
basic molecular biology techniques like DNA extraction and PCR. You will need
to have the ability to work in a team in a collaborative fashion with high
level interpersonal skills as well as the ability to work independently in a
self directed manner.
You must have unrestricted work rights in Australia for the duration of this

The full-time equivalent base salary will be in the range $80,784 - $86,768,
plus super of up to 17%.
