The Department of Mathematics in CUHK has developed a strong reputation in teaching and research. Many of the faculty members are internationally renowned and are recipients of prestigious awards and honours. The graduates are successful in both academia and industry. The Department is highly ranked internationally, e.g., it is 37th, 41st and 66th in the 2021, 2022 and 2023 QS World University Rankings, and 41st, 51st and 42nd in the 2021, 2022 and 2023 US News Rankings, respectively.

The Department has multiple openings for Research Assistant Professors and Postdoctoral Fellows. The Department is now cordially inviting applications for non-substantiable posts at Research Assistant Professor (RAP) / Postdoctoral Fellow (Post-doc) levels in all areas of Mathematics. We seek promising young mathematicians whose research areas match the areas of our faculty members. Applicants should have (i) a PhD degree in mathematics or related disciplines; and (ii) demonstrated potential for research and teaching. The main duties of the appointees will focus on research. They are also expected to undertake light teaching duties at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, with one course each academic year.

Appointments will initially be made on contract basis for up to three years (for RAP) or two years (for Post-doc) commencing August 2024, renewable subject to performance and mutual agreement.
