Position Summary

The Division of Genetics and Metabolism in the Department of Pediatrics at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Medicine is seeking a candidate with expertise in pre-clinical translational research, who will facilitate gene therapy research towards clinical application at UNC Gene Therapy Center in the Laboratory of Dr. Haiyan Fu. This position will emphasize research activities focused on preclinical translational studies to develop gene therapy for patients with mucopolysaccharidosis (MPS) and other rare genetic disorders. The successful candidate will also work with faculty in the Division of Genetics and Metabolism in the Department of Pediatrics to support human gene clinical trials at UNC for patients with MPS.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

Candidates should have a PhD in the field of Biological and Biomedical Sciences.

Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience

The successful candidate should have the following: Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communications skill, state-of-the-art experimental laboratory skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with other investigators and trainees, experience with gene therapy studies in MPS animal models, and experience in extracellular vesicle cargo in gene therapy research.
