Research Assistant Professor (PR0277/22-23)

The Department of Social Work is dedicated to working for the betterment of society through research, teaching, and service to the community. For over 60 years, the Department has been fully engaged in social work education through collaborative efforts with social service organisations in Hong Kong, advancing in many frontiers, including research, professional training and consulting, and supporting social policy changes.

In recent decades, the Department has made significant progress in internationalisation by strengthening cooperation with scholars from renowned universities in different parts of the world, and developing academic exchange opportunities for colleagues and students. The Department values the application of scientific evidence, as well as the development and implementation of evidence-based policy and practice, with an aim of bringing significant impact to the society.

The Principal Investigator (PI) is leading a research focusing on developing evidence-based service models for family services in Hong Kong. The appointee will contribute to develop various components of the project; to assist the PI to oversee the research team; to facilitate agencies in model development and to provide training on evidence-based practices for human service professionals. The appointee is also expected to conduct academic research and assume high-level service responsibilities for the Department.

Applicants should possess a Ph.D. degree with relevant working experiences. Candidates with background in social sciences and mental health research would have an advantage. They should demonstrate strong competency in research design, project management, data analysis and have a good command of written and spoken English and Chinese for publications.

A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits. The appointment will attract a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 10 to 15% of basic salary. The appointment will be offered on a fixed-term contract of two to three years commencing as soon as possible. Re-appointment thereafter will be subject to performance review, mutual agreement, and availability of funding.
