    An opportunity is available for a Research Assistant Professor to work in the laboratory of Dr. Stephen Black at the Center of Translational Science located in Port Saint Lucie, Florida. Successful candidates will hold a primary position at the Robert Stempel College of Public Health and Social Work in the department of Environmental Health Sciences. The candidate will be performing the duties below:

    • Analysis of drp1 interaction proteins in the development of pulmonary vascular disease. This will include the analysis of mechanisms by which Drp1 alters autophagy/mitophagy and the investigation of the mechanisms by which alterations in PDE activity modulates Drp1 phosphorylation. Effects of ROS/RNS-mediated PTMS on Drp1 functions will be investigated. More specifically:

    - PTM analysis of proteins.

    - Mass spectrometry analyses.

    - Metabolomic analyses.

    - Protein expression and purification.

    - HPLC analysis of carnitine metabolites.

    - Mammalian cell culture.

    • Compiling and analyzing data and presenting research findings at lab or progress meetings, or other venues.

    • Assisting the PI in writing abstracts and/or grant proposals and in guiding students with procedures/techniques related to their research in the laboratory; and

    • Performing other related duties within the scope of the position, as designated by the PI.
