    The candidate should meet the following requirements:

  • completed at least master's degree studies - the field of geophysics, geology with the specialty of geophysics or related or exact faculties (physics, mathematics, computer science, related)
  • very good results of the course of study
  • good English in speaking and writing
  • good knowledge of unix / linux and MS Windows operating systems
  • knowledge of programming, in one or more of: C/C ++, python, Matlab, Fortran, bash/tcsh scripting
  • ability to organize work independently, creativity
  • enthusiasm and motivation for academic work.
  • Additional advantages will be

  • practical knowledge of seismic/geophysical data processing systems (eg. Seismic Unix, ProMAX,, Generic Mapping Tools)
  • possession of a driving license
  • knowledge of other foreign languages (eg. Russian)
  • Our department mainly conducts experimental science research - recognition of the structure of the crust and the upper mantle of the Earth.

    The candidate is expected to:

  • participate in the scientific work of the Institute of Seismic Research on Lithosphere,
  • own research work related to the interpretation of seismic data,
  • active participation in conferences and workshops regarding the analyzed issues,
  • presentation of achievements in national and international forums in scientific journals,
  • participate in the preparation of new projects related to the research,
  • participation in field land and marine seismic experiments in Poland, as well as other countries, including in the polar regions (Svalbard, Arctica),
  • preparing the collected seismic data for interpretation
  • 2D and 3D modeling,
  • expanding skills with knowledge useful in discussions and geotectonic interpretation of our materials
