Research Assistant (Part Time, Fixed Term)
The Faculty of Education at the University of Cambridge wishes to appoint a
part-time Research Assistant (0.27 FTE), to work in the Centre for Research
on Play in Education, Development and Learning (PEDAL). The project is led
in Cambridge by Professor Paul Ramchandani. The project seeks to investigate
the place of play in hospitals with the aim of developing a programme of
training with paediatric hospital settings. This includes a range of research
approaches including interviews with children, families and staff and the
development of training.
The post-holder will assist across the small play and health research team,
contributing to all phases of the research as needed. This may include data
collection and coding, the preparation of academic publications and the
production of resources for practitioners. The successful candidate will also
support our stakeholder engagement activities and the organisation of
meetings. Experience of working in hospital play settings and engaging with
hospital staff is therefore desirable.
Applicants should have at least an undergraduate degree in Psychology,
Education or a related discipline. They will have experience in direct work
with children and families, ideally in a hospital setting and experience of
working with health professionals in a UK setting. They will have also have
experience of managing and organising data sets, with excellent attention to
detail. They will also have excellent written and oral communication skills.
The postholder will be highly organised and competent in use of technology,
including audio and video equipment.
