“Petru Poni” Institute of Macromolecular Chemistry Iasi announces a competition for the position of Research Assistant (Member – PhD student) in the project entitled „Polysaccharide based (bio)hybrid nanostructures” acronym HYBSAC.

Specific Requirements

Specific requirements for the position of scientific research assistant

• The candidate must be a graduate of higher education, with a bachelor and master degree, and be enrolled as PhD student in the field of chemistry, chemical engineering or environmental engineering enrolled in an institution organizing doctoral studies in Romania;

• The candidate must have knowledge of the methods of obtaining composite materials based on synthetic and/or natural polymers and their assembly through layer-by-layer, sorption and/or precipitation;

• The candidate must have skills in the characterization of materials based on synthetic/natural polymers through polyelectrolytic titrations, potentiometric titrations, FTIR spectroscopy, UV-Vis spectroscopy and their testing in water purification;

• The candidate must have skills in processing and presenting results, statistical processing;

• The candidate must have experience in drafting/manuscripts to publish scientific papers and national/international project proposals. The candidate must have at least 4 papers published in journals with an ISI impact factor;

• The candidate must present the availability of travel in the country and abroad;

• The candidate must be motivated and creative, with advanced communication and teamwork skills;

• The candidate must possess practical knowledge of computer operation (Word, Excel, Power Point, Origin).

The selected candidate will be involved in the functionalization of polysaccharides with synthetic, hydrophilic macromolecular chains, the self- assembly and the study of the behavior in aqueous solutions, the synthesis of new synthetic-biological hybrid nanostructures, and the physical-chemical and structural characterization of the obtained nanostructures. It will disseminate the results obtained through scientific papers in ISI rated journals and national and international conferences. It will participate in the drafting, elaboration of reports on the progress of the project. Participates in the organization of the work space so that it is functional, respecting the stages of analysis activities (processing samples, storing them, analyzing samples, issuing documents regarding the results). Participation in the storage of consumables and reagents in correlation with the conduct of research activity in optimal conditions. The selected candidate undertakes to maintain the confidentiality of the research subjects in which he participates.
