Fixed term (12 months) from February 2022 to January 2023.
Part time: 0.5 FTE (18.75 hours per week).
About the role
The Faculty of Classics is seeking to appoint a Research Assistant on the
project ‘Manar Libya. A Digital Cultural Heritage Portal,' funded by the
Oxford University Press John Fell Research Fund.
The project will create a portal for digital cultural heritage resources for
Libya and gather both historic and contemporary photographs, building on the
existing collection held by the Manar al-Athar Photo-Archive (www. manar-al-
Reporting to Dr Ine Jacobs (Principal Investigator) and Dr Miranda Williams
(Co-Investigator), you will investigate the design of similar portals to
understand optimal user engagement and identify possible future project
Working collaboratively with other team members, you will assist in enriching
photograph metadata and contribute to the communication of the hub's resources
to non-academic audiences.
You will have excellent oral and written communication skills, good
interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate archaeology and/or
cultural heritage to non-academic collaborators and audiences. You will hold a
master's degree in a relevant discipline and be working toward a doctorate in
a relevant discipline, or hold equivalent research experience.
