The Bundesanstalt für Materialforschung und -prüfung (BAM) is a materials research organization in Germany. Our mission is to ensure safety in technology and chemistry. Your responsibilities include:

Scientific activity within the framework of a BMBF projects “Phosphor-enriched micro-algae as flame retardant in biopolymers”:

  • Application-oriented research in the field of sustainable, flame retarded biopolymers
  • Compounding and preparation of materials and test specimen
  • Investigation of pyrolysis using thermal analysis
  • Investigation of flammability and fire behaviour
  • Additional polymer analysis, such as electron microscopy and infrared spectroscopy
  • Elucidation of the flame retardant mechanisms and modes of action
  • Documenting, presenting, and publishing the results
  • Your qualifications:
  • Successfully completed university studies in the field of Polymer Science or comparable, Ph.D. desired
  • Experience with biopolymers
  • Experience with flame retardancy/fire testing
  • Interested in interdisciplinary, applied/practical research
  • Good knowledge of English (written and spoken), knowledge in German desirable
  • Good communication and information behavior, goal-oriented and structured way of working
  • High degree of initiative and commitment, willingness to learn, ability to work in a team and willingness to cooperate
