Research Assistant in Precision Oncology

Sir William Dunn School of Pathology, South Parks Road, Oxford

We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and self-motivated Research Assistant to join the Oxford Precision Oncology for Sarcoma team (OxPOS). The post-holder will be based in the Sir William Dunn School of Pathology but will work regularly in the Sarcoma pathology laboratories at the Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre.

The post-holder will co-ordinate sarcoma material and its biobanking, extraction and processing, including preparing and collating genomic data from collaborating service labs, as well as validation and quality control. You will co-ordinate operational aspects of the OxPOS protocol, such as logging data results and ethical consents, and finally preparing and co-ordinating precision oncology communications for the standard of care teams and the OxPOS clinic. You will be trained and exposed to all the components of a precision oncology pipeline, from genomics to patient communication. The post-holder will have an opportunity to develop genomic and molecular cell biology laboratory linked with bioinformatics. You will be a key member of the team supporting key aspects of project management, with an opportunity to supervise junior colleagues and project students.

The successful candidate should hold a BSc/MSc in biomedical sciences and have a good understanding of biomedical and cancer research. You should possess excellent organisational and time management skills and being able to work independently using your own initiative, and also as part of a team. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to interact equally effectively with senior academic staff, researchers and support staff are essential.

This full-time post is available until June 2026.
