In January 2009 the University of Melbourne established a new Centre for Youth Mental Health (CYMH) within the Faculty of Medicine Dentistry and Health Sciences, where the academic and professional staff who are provided to Orygen are now based. The creation of this academic and administrative structure reflects the multidisciplinary nature of this field of inquiry and knowledge, and its growing scientific and practical breadth and significance. This is only the fourth such supra-departmental structure to be created in the Faculty and there is no parallel to date anywhere else in Australia.
About the Role
The Research Assistant will be involved in a range of activities related to building this group and establishing this research stream. This will include conducting literature reviews and preparing reports. The Research Assistant will also assist with funding applications, building stakeholder relations and collaborations, and will be involved in authoring research publications. In addition, the Research Assistant will be involved in research activities, including but not limited to setting up participant databases/registries, setting up research studies, recruiting participants, and data collection and analysis.
About You You will be a highly motivated and enthusiastic researcher with a strong interest in eating disorders. You will possess excellent verbal and written communication skills for effective research collaboration and engagement and have the ability to take initiative and undertake work independently. You will be flexible and responsive to changing priorities with well-developed organisation and time management skills.
