TU Darmstadt is an autonomous university with broad research excellence, an interdisciplinary profile, and a clear focus on engineering as well as information and communication technology. It is one of Europe's leading AI hotspots (see csrankings.org) and a unit in the European Laboratory for Learning and Intelligent Systems (ELLIS, ellis.eu). The Department of Computer Science is one of the most visible departments of TU Darmstadt and regularly ranks among the best CS departments in Germany.
The Visual Inference Lab (led by Prof. Stefan Roth, Ph.D.) at the Department of Computer Science of TU Darmstadt is offering a position starting 01.08.2022 as
Research Assistant/Doctoral Researcher (all genders) – Adaptive DeepVisual Learning
in the cluster project “The Adaptive Mind”. The position is initially limited until 31 March 2025. The option of an extension of the contract is generally given.
The state of Hesse is funding the cluster project “The Adaptive Mind” (TAM, www. theadaptivemind.de), in which the universities of Gießen, Marburg, and Darmstadt as partner locations, together with the University of Frankfurt and the Frankfurt Institute for Advanced Studies (FIAS) as participating institutions, are pursuing the goal of advancing research in the field of Mind, Brain, and Behaviour in an interdisciplinary manner. The goal of “The Adaptive Mind” is to empirically observe, quantify, and use mathematical models to describe the continuous adaptation of human behaviour in a constantly changing and often unpredictable world.
The tasks of the open doctoral researcher position include scientific services in research and teaching at the intersection of computer vision, machine learning, and cognitive science, specifically related to the implementation of the TAM cluster project. Of particular interest are adaptation mechanisms for deep neural networks that capture object shape, recognize materials, and/or semantically analyze visual scenes. The tasks further include active collaboration with other research groups within “The Adaptive Mind” as well as a direct contribution to the scientific goals of TAM. Our open and internationally oriented team has access to state-of-the-art GPU facilities, including nvidia DGX machines, enabling outstanding research.
Your profile
