    About the Transport Group in the School of Civil Engineering

    The School of Civil Engineering enjoys a strong relationship with the Queensland Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR), resulting in a healthy research program. This project will assist TMR in exploring current practice and the state of research in the given subject areas.

    Currently we are recruiting for 4 Research Assistant positions to support the project up to 17 February 2023 on a full-time basis. Each Research Assistant position will support a different project area. Below you will find the different project area topics, which are further specified in the attached document.     Key responsibilities for all 4 positions will include:

  • Applying specialist technical skills or services related to a literature review and synthesis of this literature.

  • Investigating current practices and guidelines in Queensland and in other areas in Australia.

  • Documenting and cataloguing sources of information and data

  • Communicating regularly with project supervisor and advisory staff from the Queensland Department of Transport and Main Roads.

  • This role is subject to The University's Code of Conduct.

    About You

    This role involves literature synthesis and a critical review of the given project topic area, and is ideally suited to a student interested in transport, urban planning, safety, and/or sustainability. Specific interests and skills for the candidate should include:

  • Experience with literature reviews and synthesis of current knowledge.

  • Excellent organizational skills.

  • Ability to write clearly and concisely.

  • An interest and/or experience in urban planning, transport planning, and/or safety and sustainability (desirable but not necessary).

  • High level inter-personal and communication skills.

  • Self-motivated and ability to prioritise workload to meet research deadline.

  • What We Can Offer

    We offer 4 full-time (100%) fixed-term positions through to 17 February 2023 at a Professional HEW level 4.

    The full-time equivalent base salary will be in the range of $66,733.35 to $70,842.86 plus super of up to 17%. The total FTE package will be in the range $78,078.02 to $82,886.15 per annum.
