Research Assistant- Biological Sciences Job Summary

Under the guidance of the principal investigator, independently responsible for the production of viruses under biosafety level 2 and/or biosafety level 3 laboratory conditions. Produce sufficiently pure viruses to allow further research studies. Perform research experiments to determine virus quality and suitability for cryo-electron microscopic analysis. Assist in maintaining mammalian and insect cell line stocks, bacteria stocks, cDNA collection, and related administrative duties.

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree with a strong background in biology
  • At least 1 year of laboratory experience
  • Ability to work independently, as part of a research team, and in cooperation with staff from other research labs
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to analyze/interpret scientific data and results
  • Preferred:

  • Master's degree in Biology, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Virology, Chemistry or Molecular Biology
  • Experience in virology, cell culture, and molecular biology
