The Research and Grant Writer will assist graduate students, postdocs and the
PI of a large and active research group in the Department of Chemistry. This
individual will help with the development of sponsored research grant
proposals, fellowship applications, and research manuscripts, including
writing content, editing and organization. An advanced degree in organic
chemistry, with an emphasis on organic catalysis, is required.
This is a 50% time, one-year term position.
This position will support graduate students, postdocs and the PI in a large
research group to organize, write, edit and submit research manuscripts, and
sponsored research grant proposal and fellowship applications.
Ensuring that writing is accurate and proposals are prepared prior to the
Editing manuscripts, and grant applications to ensure they are appealing
and compelling. Ensuring that grant proposals are formatted correctly and
respond to the funding agency requirements.
Assisting with manuscript submission process, as needed.
Must have 5+ years of experience in academic science writing, including
preparing and submitting manuscripts and grant proposals.
Candidates must be able to demonstrate exceptional communications skills,
including written and verbal, have the ability to understand complex
information and quickly translate it for scientific peer and lay
audiences, work well with a diversity of people, be proactive and able to
work in a collaborative manner in an academic setting.
Must have strong personal initiative, be able to manage competing
priorities and adhere to deadlines.
Proficiency in Microsoft desktop applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
and publishing platforms.
Advanced degree in organic chemistry with emphasis on organic catalysis.
Experience in scholarly publishing preferred.
