Position Summary:
Villanova University has embarked on a 10-year strategic plan, Rooted.

learning experience for all members of our community. University Advancement
is seeking exceptional talent to join our mission-driven team working together

University's philanthropic supporters as we prepare for Villanova's next
comprehensive capital campaign.
The Research Analyst will report to the Assistant Director of Prospect
Research and serve as a key member of the Prospect Development (PD) team
within the office of University Advancement. The incumbent will be a leading
contributor in aligning and leveraging data from the department's internal
reporting systems (Cognos and Salesforce), our department database
(Banner), as well as online resources in support of our fundraising
initiatives with emphasis on day-to-day prospect research efforts including
wealth screening and other research projects. The Research Analyst will
primarily support the area of Prospect Research in conducting strategic
research and analysis to identify new leadership and major gift prospects, as
well as corporate and foundation prospects in addition to compiling
information on existing donors. The Research Analyst will be part of a dynamic
PD team working closely with all team members as we plan for the next capital
campaign. The incumbent will bring a high degree of professionalism to
facilitate the achievement of University Advancement goals.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Use departmental, University, and external resources, including online
tools, to identify prospective donors. Compile information on future and
existing donors, and leadership volunteers, using established guidelines
to assess the financial capacity of potential and current prospects and
assign ratings.
Identify and complete proactive research projects in support of
fundraising initiatives and in collaboration with the Research team.
Assist in supporting automated requests submitted by the frontline team
for research support as needed to help ensure information is provided to
our customers in a timely manner.
Provide support for evaluative research activities related to the
successful implementation, use, and deployment of data resulting from
wealth screenings. Work as part of a dynamic team to ensure impactful use
by our frontline team of wealth screening results and other related
research information.
Align support that results with our Research team steadily increasing the
number of rated prospects and sustaining capacity rating accuracy on all
rated prospects, with emphasis on major gift level prospects.
Assist in the successful communication of research results to the
appropriate audiences within University Advancement and across campus.
This includes the regular publication of our Prospect Research News and
affiliated reports drawn from news alerts and other proactive outlets.
Assist with various Records Management updates to ensure that key research
data is being captured in our system in a timely manner.
Stay current on research trends, as well as data management trends as they
relate to prospect research, through conferences and other professional
development opportunities.
Perform additional duties and assist with special projects as assigned by
supervisor, Associate Director of Prospect Research, Senior Director of
Prospect Research, and/or Executive Director of Prospect Development.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree required.
Two or more years of relevant experience required, preferably in prospect
research.
A strong understanding of Development industry standards in the area of
prospect research, as well as University structure, policies and
practices.
Some knowledge about Villanova's Augustinian community and mission.
Ability to understand and interpret information from a variety of
financial, legal, corporate, and governmental sources.
Proficiency in synthesizing material from multiple sources and presenting
in a clear, logical, and coherent manner.
Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects effectively and to
communicate results in a timely and accurate manner.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and analytical/problem-
solving skills. Proficiency in working with relational databases and
online and interactive Web-based research resources.
Knowledge of existing and emerging prospect research resources, with
emphasis toward using on-line and interactive resources.
Must be able to work under the pressure of time and frequent requests from
multiple sources.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, Access, and
PowerPoint required.
Preferred Qualifications:
Previous higher education or nonprofit experience preferred.
Experience with the integrated software suite, BANNER, and CRM, Salesforce
is a plus.
Knowledge and understanding of Development industry system applications a
plus.
Physical Requirements and/or Unusual Work Hours:
A willingness to provide staff support at select special events which may take
place during evenings and/or weekends. The ability to commute across campus as
needed when attending work related meetings.
