Physical Requirements

Sitting for long periods of time; repetitive motion related to computer work. Lifting, pushing, and/or pulling objects up to 50lbs; Standing or walking with objects up to 25lbs.

Job Summary

A NIH funded project has been awarded a supplement and requires the expertise and support of a research analyst who will assist in cognitive testing of beagles, assist with neuroimaging and to provide support for other basic laboratory procedures. The position involves maintenance of study protocols and records and meeting with the study PI and team. Expertise in handling dogs, animal sedation and intubation, health monitoring and acquiring blood samples is necessary. Experience with canine aging studies is required along with excellent organizational and communication skills. Familiarity with animal research studies is required. This study takes place off campus however you may be required to attend occasional meetings on campus.

Given the COVID-19 pandemic, and the need to protect our university community including our students, staff, faculty and visitors, the University of Kentucky is requiring COVID-19 vaccination for all new hires prior to starting employment. Therefore, as of October 18, 2021, all new hires prior to their first day of employment must submit appropriate documentation showing, i) completion of the first vaccination against COVID-19, or ii) completion of the full vaccination series against COVID-19, or iii) approved exemption (medical contraindications or a sincerely held religious belief) through the formal exemption process from the COVID-19 vaccination requirement. Skills / Knowledge / Abilities

Proficiency with Windows, Excel, and Word is required.

Does this position have supervisory responsibilities? No Preferred Education/Experience

Experience working with dogs in a laboratory setting is preferred.
