Provides research administration support and basic problem solving to faculty, staff and students in connection with basic externally supported sponsored projects.
Review and interpret proposal guidelines to ensure that all proposals are submitted in compliance with sponsor (federal, state, local, foundation and corporate) regulations and institutional policies.
COMMUNICATIONS
Interpersonal skills necessary to facilitate the accurate and timely completion of proposal applications, interact effectively with faculty, staff, administration, students, external funding agencies and to maintain a variety of internal and external contacts. High degree of organizational skills, ability to establish priorities and react promptly to a variety of requests and needs, sometimes in stressful situations.
CUSTOMER SERVICE
Demonstrated ability to exercise sound judgment in prioritizing assignments, multi-tasking and managing time effectively under sometimes, short and strict deadlines. Exercises a team player attitude that demonstrates innovative ideas, communicates effectively with sponsors, faculty, internal and external colleagues in a professional manner.

Qualifications
Education & Experience
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, or related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience) required. One to two years of experience in grants and contract administration and negotiating in a variety of areas (government, industry, foundation, etc.) preferred.
Knowledge & Skills
Ability to work in fast paced environment with strict deadlines and a high stress environment
Knowledge and experience of preaward and postaward research administration in academic setting with the ability to interpret and understand federal and non- federal regulations and operations of sponsored research.
Strong customer service focus, excellent verbal and written skills, strong organizational skills, solid working knowledge of MS Office, and the ability to work in a team setting. Demonstrated skills in problem solving with the ability to execute multiple tasks, respond to multiple demands, and consider multiple alternatives. Prefer familiarity with Cayuse Research Suite or other web-based proposal and award systems. Ability to work independently, manage time and multiple tasks, set priorities and manage strict deadlines.

Key Responsibilities
Key Responsibility
Review and interpret proposal guidelines to ensure that all proposals are submitted in compliance with externally funded programs (i.e., federal, state, foundation and corporate sponsors) and institutional regulations and policies. This includes but is not limited to, conflict of interest, financial conflict of interest training, human and animal subjects, and other regulatory requirements as defined in the solicitation.
Percentage Of Time 20 Key Responsibility
Analyze and accurately prepare all aspects of pre-award functions including budgets, budget justifications, biographical sketches, current and pending support and other required documents by the sponsor. Critically review collaborating institutions' sub-award documents for consistency and accuracy for submission to sponsor for all departments, adhering to strict deadlines. Responsible for assuring correct packages are uploaded through sponsor electronic systems such as NSF Fastlane, NASA NSPIRES, EERE Exchange, etc. and are prepared according to strict guidelines. Work with faculty to update information in IIT's internal grants management system, Cayuse Research Suite for proposal preparation, final review, and signature by the authorized institutional official. Maintain sponsored project records in accordance with federal regulations, approved and audited systems, and special contract terms. Maintain confidentiality regarding personnel salaries and other budgetary information. Maintain confidentiality related to intellectual property disclosures. Remain current on sponsor guidelines and policies. Maintain up-to-date knowledge and expertise in federal, state, and other agency regulations and policies (i.e., Uniform Guidance)

Provide assistance to the Senior Research Administrator, Associate Director, and/or Director with non-financial post-award tasks and with the close-out of funded projects.
