Reporting to the Coordinator of Health Services, Registered Nurses (RN's) at TCC translate and articulate the health and illness experiences of diverse, often vulnerable individuals, to health planners and organizational leaders. TCC RN's must be knowledgeable about multiple strategies for intervention, from those applicable to the entire population, to those for small groups, and the individual. We translate knowledge from the health and social sciences to individuals and population groups through targeted interventions, programs, and advocacy.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Essential Performance Requirements • Participates in procedures for the administration, safety, and security of medications, first aid or health supplies, and equipment • Refers to health care professionals for medical diagnostic services and treatment as needed • Completes comprehensive, thorough, and timely documentation of all patient care activities in SNAP • Develops and implements programming open to the College and community to address health concerns and promote overall wellness • Supports District education, training and reporting efforts related to Title IX, Clery, VAWA, Drug Free Schools for all constituencies • Maintains flexibility in order to meet the needs of the students, faculty, staff, and contract employees • Participates in staff meetings, required continuing education, and all mandatory training • Serves on committees related to wellness, emergency and safety issues, and communicable disease prevention • Complies with all district and campus policies, regulations, and requirements • Communicates effectively in both written and verbal formats with colleagues, students, faculty, and staff Student/School Health • Develops plans for student care based on assessment, interventions, identification of outcomes, and the evaluation of care • Provides health-related education to students in both individual and group settings • Monitors immunizations, manages communicable diseases, and assesses the school environment as to prevent injury and ensure safety • Oversees medication administration, health care procedures, infection control measures and the development of healthcare plans • Assists with crisis intervention • Provides sexual health counseling • Administers pregnancy tests Occupational Health • Provides health education, health counseling and referrals to faculty, staff, and contract employees • Oversees medication administration, health care procedures, and the development of healthcare plans • Designs programs that support positive lifestyle changes and individual efforts to lower risks of disease and injury while promoting a work/life balance • Participates in staff wellness activities Community Nurse • Serves as a disease prevention specialist working toward occurrences of the flu and other communicable diseases • Supports patients with chronic disease management • Acts as a community partner to various organizations to provide health education. • Designs and implements programming open to the community to address health concerns and promote overall wellness • Other duties as assigned
Service Excellence •Participates on behalf of the College in external community organizations and associations as assigned to support the essential performance requirements
• Attends the workplace regularly, reports to work punctually and follows a work schedule to keep up with the demands of the worksite • Completes all required training and professional development sessions sponsored through Tarrant County College (TCC) • Supports the values of the College: diversity, teaching excellence, student success, innovation and creativity and service to the College • Supports the mission, values and 3 goals and 8 principles of the College

Required Minimum Qualifications
• Graduate of a regionally accredited Registered Nurse Program • Registered Nurse with current, unencumbered Texas license issued by the Texas Board of Nurse Examiners • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification • Three (3) years of experience in acute care
Preferred Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Nursing from a regionally accredited college or university • Advance Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification • Community nursing experience • Emergency/Urgent Care experience
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
• Excellent customer service and interpersonal, oral and written communication skills
