  • About ARU:

ARU is a global university transforming lives through innovative, inclusive and entrepreneurial education and research. ARU holds a Gold award for the quality of its education, awarded through the Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF).

ARU's research institutes and four faculties bridge scientific, technical and creative fields. We deliver impactful research which tackles pressing issues and makes a real difference to our communities. Our academic excellence has been recognised by the UK's Higher Education funding bodies, with 16 of our research areas assessed as world leading. We are the largest provider of Nursing, Midwifery, Health and Social Care students in the East of England, and we are also among the UK's leading universities for degree apprenticeship provision, working with hundreds of employers across the UK.

    About the Role:

The Research & Innovation Development Office is responsible for supporting colleagues across Anglia Ruskin University in fostering world-leading and impactful research, innovation and knowledge exchange activities.

We're looking to appoint an experienced professional who can take on this role, as requirements for REF2029 are becoming clearer, to help deliver another step-change in the recognition of ARU's research. Working with multiple internal stakeholders, at all levels, including both academic and professional colleagues, and from a range of disciplines, you'll play a critical role in planning and managing preparations across all aspects of ARU's REF submissions. In addition, you'll take specific responsibility for managing an end-to-end research impact support function, ensuring that an impact culture is embedded across ARU.

Educated to degree level, but preferably with a research degree, you'll have a demonstrable and appropriate level of experience supporting REF preparations, ideally at an institutional level. and a good understanding of impact and supporting its generation. You'll have excellent analytical and communication skills, highly organised, customer-focussed, and able to prioritise a busy workload. You will be well-versed in research information management systems, with a good understanding of open research activities. An understanding of wider aspects of research administration in the higher education environment is desirable, and you will understand how to engage with researchers from a range of disciplines. A concern for excellence, and ability to pay attention to detail while being able to work on your own initiative is essential, as is the ability to work well under pressure to deliver to tight deadlines.

Informal enquiries can be made to Dr. Tim Brooks, Assistant Director (Research Excellence & Enhancement), at [email protected].
