This NIH study will test the effectiveness of an intervention designed to
promote COVID testing uptake, adoption of COVID control measures, and mutual
aid capacity at the household level. The findings from this study will provide
an evidence-base to inform current and future public health initiatives
related to COVID-19 mitigation in underserved and vulnerable communities.
The Field Supervisor for the Recruiters/Data Collectors will report to Desiree
Williams, the Project Manager and Dr. Holly Hagan, Professor, School of Global
Public Health, and Director of the Center for Drug Use and HIV Research
(CDUHR). The Field supervisor will be responsible for scheduling
house visits with families as needed, making reminder calls to families who
are scheduled for house visits, and coordinating the day-to-day activities for
the recruiters/data collectors. The Field Supervisor will oversee and
participate in the following recruiter/data collector responsibilities:
screening for eligibility, obtaining informed consent, data collection in New
York City Housing Authority buildings in the South Bronx, and data entry in
REDCap database. The Field Supervisor will be expected to adhere to project
timelines and provide routine feedback to the Project Manger regarding
recruitment/data collection productivity. In addition, the Field Supervisor
will support the Project Manager and PIs in developing/adapting training
protocols by identifying barriers to study enrollment, the scheduling of study
activities/house visits, and data collection/entry.
CDUHR is an NIH-funded Center that supports transdisciplinary research to
prevent and treat HIV, HCV, overdose, and substance use. Dr. Guilamo-Ramos
directs the Center for Latino Adolescent and Family Health, which seeks to
foster the development, evaluation, and dissemination of evidence-based
interventions designed to promote positive Latino youth development, and
examine and address issues such as immigration and their impact on Latino
families and communities.
Adhere to all IRB approved human subjects' procedures and infection
Attend project trainings and team meetings.
Provide routine feedback to Project Manager about recruitment/data
Schedule house visits with families as needed and conduct appointment
Coordinate daily activities for recruiter/data collection staff
Identify and report any barriers to study enrollment, the scheduling of
visits, and data collection/entry to the Project Manager.
Report any adverse study events or breaches of infection control protocols
Manager and PIs.
Assist with additional research activities as they arise
Oversee & Participate in the Following Recruiter/Data Collector
Engage in canvassing (in courtyards, lobbies, door-to-door) to introduce
residents to the
study and the opportunity to participate.
Recruit and build rapport with families in Mott Haven who live in NYCHA
Screen for eligibility and obtain informed consent.
Schedule study activities (house visits, assessments, interviews).
Data collection and entry in RADx-Up database.
Bronx residency is preferred, but not required.
Associates degree with related professional work experience is preferred,
but not required.
Flexible schedule (including weekends) is preferred.
Understanding the importance of cultural humility is required.
Cultural competence in working with Latino and African American
communities is preferred.
Strong commitment to working in communities with health disparities is
Individuals who are able to work independently with minimal supervision
and are flexible are best suited for this opportunity.
Candidate must be able to work in a fast-paced, deadline-focused
environment, be motivated, be organized, be detail-oriented, be willing to
work under the supervision of the Project Manager, and possess the
necessary skills to complete tasks efficiently and in a timely manner.
Skills and Knowledge:
Bilingual (English and Spanish) preferred
Strong communication and rapport-building skills
Excellent organizational and management skills
Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) is preferred.
