Position Overview
Position Summary
This position is responsible for the accurate and timely Banner data entry of all employment actions (new hires, promotion, lateral transfers, special payments, separations, etc.) associated with SHRA, EHRA non-faculty, student employees, and temporary staff.
Primary Function of Organizational Unit
The Office of Human Resources is designed to deliver professional HR services and programs to the Winston-Salem State University campus. The staff, composed of experienced and knowledgeable/credentialed HR professionals, administers human resource programs for SHRA and EHRA non-faculty staff and institutional administrators, temporary and student employees, and faculty (benefits administration) at Winston-Salem State University. In addition, the office is responsible for the institution's programs in benefits, staffing and talent acquisition, classification and compensation, employee relations, training, and professional development. performance management, leave administration, position management, and unemployment compensation.

The incumbent will be responsible for: monitoring the workflow queue for new activity, prioritizing based on pay date, and entering all data, including work assignments. Including new hires, reappointments, fund changes, salary changes, position title changes, assignment extensions, separations, FTE changes, leave statuses, and terminations. In addition, conduct a review of employee files for accuracy and completeness. Also, be responsible for managing employees' physical files to ensure they are secure and filed correctly. Would also conduct regular audits of files and track when they are checked out. Will also pull files on request by employees, supervisors, HR team members, and the Office of Legal Affairs. And make copies when needed for investigations.

Processes all work assignments to include: SHRA, EHRA non-faculty, temporary staff, and students. Work with the team to ensure that Data Mart closes on time each month. This requires setting up positions correctly, tracking errors and warnings, finding and documenting the root causes of the errors to prevent repeat errors each month, and bringing any issues they can resolve to their supervisor. Fixes errors for legislative increases or other special pay uploads done by the IT team. On request, you may be required to enter to extend active or term records for assignments that have submitted late timesheets to enable Payroll to process payments.
