  • Position Summary:

    Residence Life is seeking an individual to join a diverse team that advises incoming students, faculty and staff on housing options and requirements to live in residential housing. The successful candidate will manage assignments for all residential spaces to maximize hall/apartment configurations, ensure eligibility and housing agreement requirements are met, and connect students with residential services geared toward enhancing their individual academic success.

    Duties:

    1-60- Process housing applications for all incoming students, faculty and staff on housing. - Advise residents on housing options, requirements, and housing agreement obligations. - Assign students to appropriate living spaces with the goal of enhancing their individual academic success. - Manage all residential spaces to maximize occupancy. - Provide excellent customer service. - Respond and document inquiries in person, via telephone and email in a timely and professional manner. - In a timely fashion, respond and report complaints and safety issues to the appropriate staff. - Assist residents in following up on work orders. - Assist the Operations Manager in creating and distributing strategic messaging to ensure deadlines and notices are communicated to residents. - Perform course credit checks, assist in retrieving student class schedules, contact information and FERPA release information. - Manage UAF PolarExpress hall access to ensure students and staff have access to residence halls and apartments. - Work with the Operations Manager to design and maintain the housing application process. Assist with Fall room selection. Assist with Rev-It-Up event, held on the first day the residence halls open. - Provide customer service assistance and serve as back up to all Residence Life staff during opening. - Help facilitate an annual occupancy agreement renewal event for current employee, family, and graduate housing residents to renew their occupancy agreements. - Administratively check-in and check-out residents. Physically perform check- ins and check-outs in high times of resident turnover or as needed. - Interpret, apply and communicate Residence Life policy. Report any alleged violations, including Title IX, accidents, and incidents involving minors and/or policy violations using the Incident Report form. Have a working knowledge of university policy, department wide procedures. - Cross train in all functions of the office in order to provide backup support to other central office staff.Essential

    2-30- Using The Housing Director and Banner, manage financial records and rental accounts of students and employees. This includes but is not limited to: daily cash deposits, accurate assessment and adjustment of housing fees and deposits. - Write and send check out charge letters as needed. - Regularly audit resident records to ensure accuracy. - Generate and execute reports utilizing The Housing Director, such as occupancy reports, building and campus rosters. - Process journal vouchers when necessary. - Research and analyze family/faculty/student data and occupancy, recommend solutions to the Operations Manager and Associate Director to help simplify procedures or solve problems. - Coordinate with Residence Life Facilities staff to ensure occupancy is maximized and units are ready to occupy.Essential

    3-10- Provide day-today supervision, training and direction for student staff with an emphasis on providing a high level of customer service.Essential

    Knowledge, Skills, Abilities: Required skills include: public relations, customer service, written/oral communication, and attention to detail

    Typical Experience:

    Minimum of two years administrative experience to include customer service. Experience working in housing preferred

    Required Education or Training:

    Two years of college coursework in a related field or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

    Salary Information:

    This is a full-time, 12-month, non-exempt staff position complete with both a competitive salary and full employee benefits package. New hires will be placed on the UA staff salary schedule, Grade 77, based on education and experience.
