Opportunity

We are inviting applications for a fixed term, full-time post for a Quality Management Assistant based within the Quality Management Office (QMO) in the University Secretary and Academic Quality Division.

The work of the QMO supports the University's strategic aims in academic improvement, growth, diversification and internationalisation through effective monitoring of the standards and performance of its academic awards.

This role offers an exciting opportunity to join the QMO as we build a refocussed Office to implement the step change in the way the University assures, monitors and manages academic quality to meet the evolving external regulatory environment.

We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic individual to provide administrative support for apprenticeship quality management, which will include the University Apprenticeships Quality Assurance Steering Group (AQASG) and University Apprentice Operations Group (AOG). The Assistant will also act as the administration support for both the Ofsted Inspection and the delivery of the subsequent improvement plan.

The Assistant will support the coordination of the delivery of staff training and briefing events relating to an Ofsted Inspection by setting up events, publicising them and managing bookings. Given the importance of the training, the role will also include follow up to ensure that all key staff have attended or taken part in required Apprenticeship/Ofsted briefings.

The postholder will also help coordinate the practical arrangements for mock inspections and the Ofsted visit and support Ofsted Inspectors when they arrive. The Assistant will have a key role in ensuring the Inspectors are well looked after.

Post Ofsted visit, the postholder will support activities required to deliver improvement actions arising from Ofsted and the on-going work of the University Apprentice Operations Group (AOG) to ensure ongoing compliance with the Framework and any changes to the requirements.

Working as a member of a team, the postholder will also provide administrative support for wider work of the QMO, such as programme approval and student facing procedures.

The successful applicant will have good interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work with academic and professional services staff at various levels of the University. You will have responsibility for providing an outstanding customer experience to students, staff and external visitors in all aspects of administration undertaken by the QMO.

Experience of working in an administrative role that involves engagement with people at a range of levels within an organisation will be needed, alongside the ability to take and minute meetings.

If, having considered the details of the role, you feel that you have the skills, knowledge and experience to contribute to the role of Quality Management Assistant, then we would be delighted to hear from you.

If you have any questions regarding this role, please contact Helen Sharman, h.k.jones@salford.ac.uk for an informal chat.
