Job Description
This is a full-time, permanent position for Boston University, in the Research
Administration and General Applications systems within Information Services &
Technology. The Quality Assurance Analyst II develops test strategy and
coordinates all aspects of testing activities, including unit testing,
regression testing, integration testing, user acceptance testing, post-
production maintenance releases. In addition, the Quality Assurance Analyst II
will be able to provide estimating testing efforts. This person will
facilitate a consistent framework for Research Administration and General
Applications projects development, auditing, accountability, testing, and
delivery and is encouraged to use automation to improve testing whenever
possible.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
As a member of project teams, the QA Analyst II will design, develop, and
execute test and release activities.
Participating can entail providing collaboration with other QAs, and
Release engineers on the project team.
Will collaborate with our team to develop common services and models that
will enable us to rapidly scale and expand our community's needs.
Incidents, service requests, defects, enhancements, upgrades, patches, and
service improvement initiatives are examples of support activities.
Team members will be assisted in devoting time to learning and improving
enterprise application development skills.
Required Skills
A Bachelor's Degree in computer science, information systems, business, or
a related field is required. Equivalent work experience will be considered
in lieu of a degree.
3-5 years of experience as a QA Analyst or Release Engineer.
Understanding of various testing methodologies and technologies to be used
throughout the product development process.
Understanding of test management tools such as ALM, Jira, IBM Rational,
and others
Solid understanding of fundamental programming concepts, frameworks,
languages, and technologies such as Java, C#, .NET, XML, JSON, Python,
PowerShell, and others.
Knowledge of agile development methodologies.
Familiarity with project management concepts and frameworks such as
waterfall, Prince 2, and Scrum.
Prior experience working on medium to high-complexity projects/issues that
necessitate demonstrated knowledge across multiple technical areas and
business segments.
Effective oral and written communication skills for establishing
relationships and working optimally across all levels of the University to
facilitate the information required for comprehensive testing.
Tight deadlines with little mentorship.
Encourages and supports a team environment that values, encourages, and
