    JOB DESCRIPTION

    The Krannert School of Physical Therapy at the University of Indianapolis is seeking applications for a PTA Assistant Director of Clinical Education (PTA ADCE)/Assistant or Associate Professor PTA Program. The PTA ADCE position encompasses the management and coordination of the clinical education components within the Physical Therapist Assistant program. The PTA ADCE is considered a “core” faculty member of the Physical Therapist Assistant program. Core faculty members have the responsibility and authority to establish academic regulations and to design, implement and evaluate the curriculum. This is a full-time, tenure or non-tenure track faculty position at the rank of assistant or associate professor or assistant or associate professor of practice. The anticipated start date is January 5, 2022.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Facilitate quality clinical learning experiences for PTA students
  • Select clinical learning environments in accordance with the mission of the Krannert School of Physical Therapy, Physical Therapist Assistant Program
  • Compile and interpret data related to clinical education for the PTA program
  • Plan clinical faculty development activities with the DCE
  • Develop, monitor, and refine the clinical education component of the PTA curriculum
  • Evaluate PTA students performance during clinical rotations in cooperation with clinical educators as part of the clinical experience courses
  • Ensure clinical education policies, procedures and practices for the PTA program are in compliance with CAPTE accreditation standards
  • Communicate information about clinical education with PTA faculty, clinical education sites, clinical education faculty and students
  • Coordinate and conduct student clinical education preparation and provide oversight of student compliance with health requirements and annual health education training
  • Designs, implements, evaluates and revises (as needed) the programs curriculum
  • Design, implementation, evaluation and revision (as needed) of the programs curriculum
  • Teach their assigned content, honestly and effectively assess student learning, and assign grades as appropriate
  • Advise students on curricular matters, professional behavior, and personal development goals
  • Participate in discussion and vote (1 vote per core faculty member) on student disciplinary decisions, which are determined by a majority vote
  • Participate in development and implementation of expectations for behaviors and skills students must demonstrate in order to ensure competency and safety prior to engaging in clinical education
  • Participate in determination of student readiness for clinical education
  • Participate in selection of qualified candidates for admission. Each core faculty member is required to participate in program interviews and at least one recruitment event per year
  • Initiate, adopt, evaluate, and uphold program policies and procedures, compatible with University policies and procedures, compatible with University policies and procedures

  • Comply with annual University and program employee training requirements and program immunization requirements
  • Evidence of a record of institutional and/or professional service (core DPT and PTA faculty). Each faculty member is required to serve on at least one school or department committee per year
  • QUALIFICATIONS

  • At least a Master's degree from a regionally accredited institution. Outstanding candidates with a Bachelor's degree pursuing or interested in pursuing a Master's degree may be considered
  • Faculty members with specialization or identified clinical expertise are preferred, particularly for faculty who teach clinical content
  • Evidence of contemporary expertise that represents the knowledge and skills reflective of current practice
  • At least three years of full-time post-licensure experience in clinical practice, including at least two years of clinical practice experience as a Site/Center Coordinator for Clinical Education (SCCE) and/or clinical instructor (CI) in physical therapy OR at least two years of academic experience in teaching, curriculum development and administration in a PT or PTA program
  • Maintain an active, unrestricted Indiana physical therapy license or physical therapist assistant license/certification
